MyAction nurse and patient

A unique family-based programme for vascular health which saves lives and offers PCT’s excellent value for money.

Helping to make your PCT ‘World Class’

The MyAction programme is a new and rapidly growing initiative in vascular prevention which integrates the care of patients and their families with cardiovascular disease, and those families at high risk of developing atherosclerotic disease, within a convenient local community setting.

MyAction is increasingly being adopted by Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) who understand that prevention in treating the whole family in a friendly and convenient leisure or community centre with expert advice from health professionals is much more effective and saves money than the more traditional approaches.

Putting prevention first and national screening is high in our national health agenda. MyAction provides a structured programme that both screens as well as reduces cardiovascular risk. By individuals and their families achieving successful and lasting reduction in risk factors there are sizeable cost savings, with less admissions to hospital for planned or emergency treatment at tariff prices.

The MyAction programme is based on the tried and tested principles of EUROACTION which was recently published in the Lancet (Wood et al., 2008).
